You didn’t see it coming. But it came, the break up. You want to crawl into bed and you say to yourself…”this is why I don’t like to open up to anyone, this is why I don’t bother”… you fear the hurt, the pain… the pain of losing someone. Your heart hurts again. You vowed to never feel this pain again. But you gave love another chance, you became vulnerable again. As Christians, we believe that our relationships can stand the test of time. You say to yourself, Lord we are both Christians. How did this happen if we both are reading from the same bible and believing your promises and your truth? With you Lord at the center of our lives, shouldn’t we be able to weather the storms together?
We cannot force anyone to remain in our lives. Our human nature wants us to close the curtains and crawl into bed a cry ourselves to sleep in hopes to numb ourselves from the pain. However, God whispers in our ear, “Be still and know that I am God” Job 46:10. Then you know that it is well with your soul. The storm that was brewing in your soul begins to calm as you begin to reach for every Word of comfort that God has to offer. God wants us to lean on him and trust him in these very moments. Psalms 94:19 (Amplified) says…” when my anxious thoughts multiply within me, your comforts delight me.
God will wrap his arms around you and calm the storm that seems to be swirling all around you. This is not the time to give up on love because LOVE did not give up on you. God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten Son. You cannot ever control the actions of others but you can ask God to grow you and show you more of Him in times like these. Just remember this about LOVE…
1 Corinthians 13:4-8Amplified Bible (AMP)
4 Love endures with patience and serenity, love is kind and thoughtful, and is not jealous or envious; love does not brag and is not proud or arrogant. 5 It is not rude; it is not self-seeking, it is not provoked [nor overly sensitive and easily angered]; it does not take into account a wrong endured. 6 It does not rejoice at injustice, but rejoices with the truth [when right and truth prevail]. 7 Love bears all things [regardless of what comes], believes all things [looking for the best in each one], hopes all things [remaining steadfast during difficult times], endures all things [without weakening].
8 Love never fails [it never fades nor ends].
